This lamp is enchanted and I am the genie, I’ll grant all your wishes but don’t be a meanie….
What happens when a frog, a rabbit and a robot all discover a magical lamp? They all want some wishes of course!
Ribbit, Rabbit, Robot is a fun book that children will love reading as not only do the illustrations play a huge role in this story, the rhyme is fun and the antics of the characters will keep readers guessing as to what they will get up to next.
It is a great picture book to show how illustrations can tell us more than the words at times and often with picture books, if we take the time to look at the pictures, we can learn a lot more from the story.
This is a great book to read to young children for its use of rhyme and also the letter sound ‘R’. It is also a great story to share to show how important reading information carefully is, how important being kind to others is and also realising that life isn’t just about what we want for ourselves.
Ribbit Rabbit Robot is such a fun story and I am so happy to finally have my hands on it. I can’t wait to share it with many more classes throughout our primary school.
What else can you do with this book?
- Look at the sound ‘R’ and the different words that start with this sound and how these words look. Create some lists to show the different types of ‘R’ sounds we have in the English language.
- Explore rhyme and create your own message from a genie.
- Draw a character and write words around this character to show their traits. Discuss how they can change some of these traits for good.
- Compare the end pages and see what you find. Discuss how end pages can also tell us a lot about the story.
