Until one day, when being different was exactly what was needed.

A perfect book to read to children and adults who have always felt a little different – The Incredibly busy mind of Bowen Bartholomew Crisp is one which will show readers that being a deep thinker & a ponderer does pay off, and that we need these types of people in the world to make it a wonderful place full of new ideas and discoveries!

We first meet Bowen Bartholomew Crisp as he sits in the classroom thinking deeply about the question his teacher asked “What colour is the ocean?”. He can’t possibly just answer with one colour as he sits and thinks about how it can be coloured differently depending on where you are in the ocean or what the weather is like.

Bowen thinks he is slow and different from the others because his head is always filled with questions and long answers – but luckily his mother shows him how important these questions are and that without them, wonderful ideas cannot take place.

As Bowen grows he comes up with new ideas, although always feeling a bit out of place, he gets along. Until one day he comes across a pile of junk – and wonderful things happen to him, the junk and the world around him.

The Incredibly busy mind of Bowen Bartholomew Crisp by Paul Russell & Nicky Johnston is an inspiring book in so many ways:

  • Reassure your gifted students that their differences are wonderful and that they will make an impact on the world
  • Repurposing ‘junk’ is the way of the future
  • Teachers can be supportive of these gifted students by allowing them to explore their strengths and going beyond the set curriculum.
  • Thinking differently is wonderful & we all need to be encouraged to not always go with the flow – but break free and try something different.

An excellent book to raise self esteem & a sense of caring for the world. Love it!
